Should I press the atomic bomb button?

The dilemma of quitting your job

In 1943, Robert Oppenheimer took Arthur Compton some calculations about the atomic bomb that could potentially generate an infinite chain reaction that would ultimately destroy the world. Arthur replied to Oppenheimer, “It is better to accept the slavery of the Nazis than to risk bringing down the curtain on humanity!”

The United States knew that Germany was close to developing an atomic bomb. So Oppenheimer was in a race against the Nazis. So he decided to risk everything and pressed the button on the atomic bomb, hoping that the apocalypse scenario would not come to pass.

Fortunately, it did not.

At times, you will find yourself in situations where your safety and well-being are at risk. It is easier to accept the yoke before risking that little security you have left. Of course, it is scary to stand up and fight, but you will always have the alternative of pressing the button, hoping for the best to happen.

Perhaps all you need is a spark for that bomb to explode. You always have an alternative. The right question is: When are you going to press the button?
